Opening: Friday 10th October, 5-8pm
Galleri Format is delighted to present 'It Takes a Fool to Remain Sane', an exhibition by Norwegian artist Sara Skorgan Teigen.
Sara Skorgan Teigen (1984, Oslo, Norway) works interdisciplinary, with a foundation in photography, installation, the artist’s book, performance, and relational works.
She is educated at Fatamorgana, The Danish School of Art Photography, Copenhagen (2008/09), ICP, The International Center of Photography, New York (2011/12), and holds a Bachelor and Master in Material-based Art from Oslo National Academy of the Arts (2018–2024).
She has exhibited at galleries, museums, photo festivals, and biennials on three continents. Teigen is known for creating site-specific wall drawings and installations with the artist’s book at the centre - having transformed galleries into sketchbooks one can walk through, or larger textile sculptures functioning as book supports for her artist books.
Her two books Fractal State of Being (Journal, 2014) and Sleeping State of Being (Journal, 2022) have received several international awards and nominations. Among these are Paris Photo–Aperture PhotoBook Awards, Author Book Award at Les Rencontres d’Arles, Best Photography Book of the Year Award at PHE15, Top 10 PhotoBooks by Photo-Eye (USA) and 1st prize Photobook of the year, Roma photofestival.
The exhibition will run 10th October – 16th November
